Best laid plans can go by the wayside if you aren’t focused on what it is that you are aiming for but how do you actually regain that focus when you have so much on your plate?
Focus comes easy to some but yet can be a complete minefield for others, from distractions and procrastination, to a lack of awareness both internally and externally, and more!
With so much to do every single day, it can be so easy to miss things that are actually fundamental in supporting our growth and development, as well as the things that are actually going to move the needle for us.
Often we may think that getting back in the zone so that we can actually progress towards our goals and aspirations is a lot of hard work, and in some cases, it may be. The majority of times, however, it can be a simple switch in approach that can be the difference between us continuing to stay stagnant and frustrated with our lack of development, and us actually making that progress and achieving our goals.
Here are some simple, yet effective steps, a new approach even, that can help in overcoming the frustration and gaining that all-important clarity.
Acknowledge where you are today
Think about how you feel, what you’ve achieved so far, and what challenges and successes you have seen to date.
Think about the vision that you want to create
Create a vision in your mind about where ultimately you want to be. What do you want to achieve, how do you want to feel, what do you need to get there i.e. money, time, resources.
Work out the steps to take you from point A to point B
What are the specific steps that you need to take to get you from where you are right now to where you are in your vision.
You won’t know all of the details necessarily straight away but you will know some of them and the rest will be uncovered on your journey so don’t worry.
Prioritise what is most important
When looking at what steps you need to take, think about what is the most important in terms of priority that you must get done and in what order.
Set a strategy or a plan in place to guide you on your journey
Set yourself a high-level plan and approach that you can use as a framework to take you on your journey. Include the steps that you will need to take, who and what you need to support you, and when you need to get certain things done in order to meet your overall vision.
Take purposeful action
Without action, the plans that you develop will fall by the way side. It’s the action that you take which is going to be the difference between you staying stagnant and getting to where you want to be, so commit to your dreams and take purposeful action to get to where you want to be.
This approach in our opinion is hands down one of THE BEST ways to regain focus and to keep you motivated along the way.
